Float through downtown Reno with sunshine overhead, skyline views around you, and plenty of Insta-worthy moments. Right now, the Truckee River is running with faster flows and lively currents, making this a more adventurous experience compared to a typical lazy float.
We've got the rest covered: the tubes, transport, and everything in between. Your float is self-guided, and river conditions can vary, so be prepared for changing currents and an active day on the water.

The Details
Start your adventure at our Welcome Center at Idlewild Park, where you’ll check in and hop on our complimentary shuttle. We’ll take you upriver to the Launch Center at the Tom Cooke Trailhead, where you’ll grab your gear, review river tips, and get float ready.
Then it’s go time: ease into the Truckee for a self-guided float lasting about 1.5–2 hours through cottonwood groves, scenic bends, and downtown skyline views. Please note: river conditions can vary and may include faster flows, small waves, and stronger currents, especially in early summer. Be ready for a more active, adventurous float.
Reconnect with friends as you cruise all the way back to Idlewild Park, where you’ll return your gear. After your float, enjoy a picnic in the park or check out one of our partner spots for great food and drinks!

Forgot something? We’ve got you covered. Pick up cold drinks, sunscreen, water shoes, hats, dry bags, and other last-minute river gear right at our Welcome Center before getting on the shuttle.
Floats are on Saturday's and Sunday's through the summer, including the July 4 and Sept 1 holidays.

↦ The Scenic Truckee River Float
River Route
Launch from Tom Cooke Trailhead and float 1.5 – 2 hours to Idlewild Park, a short walk from Reno’s Riverwalk District.
➤ Welcome Center by the river at Idlewild Park
➤ Complimentary shuttle to the river drop-in location
➤ GPS guidance and points of interest in the Float Reno app
➤ End back at the Welcome Center and grab any items you left with us
➤ After your float, enjoy nearby food and drink options at the Riverwalk
Please note that trips may be delayed or canceled due to weather or higher river flows. River conditions can change, and currents may be faster and more active than expected.
All participants must be 8 years or older and strong swimmers, as this is a self-guided river experience.
Arrival and Shuttle Pickup Information:
Meet at the Welcome Center at Idlewild Park at least 30 minutes before your reservation time in order to check-in and catch the shuttle.
The shuttle will leave promptly at your reservation time. If you miss the shuttle at our Welcome Center, you will need to transport yourself directly to the Launch Center (15 minute drive).
